The IMC Buying Group is made up of a consortium of independent menswear retailers who combine their buying expertise to maximise margins. It consists of over 100 members and the main event is the IMC’s own show which takes place twice a year, where carefully selected suppliers are invited to exhibit allowing members to buy from them with preferential terms.
If you’re an independent menswear business and perhaps looking for a more diverse selection of merchandise or to network with other menswear retailers, then the IMC is probably the organisation for you. For a very small annual fee (£250), you will be able to attend your own trade show which takes place twice a year, buy from a carefully
selected mix of well known and exclusive suppliers as well as have ample opportunity to informally discuss trade issues with other like-minded businesses. If this sounds like the type of organisation that you’d like to be a part of, then please click here, complete the form and we will get back to you shortly.

Some of the suppliers listed below are exclusive to the IMC Buying Group and can only be bought by IMC Members at the show. This list is not exhaustive but representative of the type of manufacturers you can expect to see:
The IMC Group has been operating in one form or another for more than 30 years. The birth of the ABC group - the forerunner to the IMC - was at the suggestion of Norman Highton, a menswear business advisor, who felt that independent menswear specialists should join forces to buy certain products and therefore enjoy the advantages of scale. This idea was followed up, and in November 1981 a meeting was held to formulate a framework for an association of like-minded retailers. Bob Baker of Chas H Baker in Salisbury was elected as the first long term Chairman and Uli Welker of Elliotts in Lymington was elected as the joint secretary and treasurer. At this first meeting simple objectives were agreed, namely wherever possible to buy exclusive merchandise at the most advantageous prices. A lot has happened since this first meeting in 1981 but the principals of being able to buy exclusive merchandise at the most advantageous prices remain. In addition to the obvious financial benefits, members additionally benefit intellectually, by not only making new friends with a common goal, but also by experiencing a general willingness of fellow retailers to exchange ideas and information.FOR MORE INFORMATION PLREASE REGISTER YOUR INTEREST ON THE CONTACT PAGE
